In between thunder storms and tornado watches this weekend I went shopping and purchased new reading glasses that I’ve been needing for some time. It’s a revelation to again see all the details that I’ve been missing. Look at that! This is great! I’ve been quite happy with my new eyes, that is until this morning when I looked in the mirror.

Where are my old glasses?

I’m back after a beautiful 9 1/2 days in south Florida. BTW it’s summer down there right now. I had fresh corn on the cob, plenty of late night pool swimming, the beaches and night life are in full swing, it’s very casual there, shorts, sandals, and tee’s for most events, dress up if you want. It’s a very nice living style.

No, this is not a sarcastic rant about President Obama and change you can believe in.

I’ve had some recent news that is disturbing. Some of it is personal and will remain private. I’m still sad about Gabi, there’s changes at work, a relative is ill, etc. One phrase continues to come to mind, which is, the harvest you reap comes from the seeds you sow.

My apologies if I appear enigmatic. I’m OK and will continue to be OK. A bright spot on the horizon is an upcoming vacation. It’s been a long time.

OPML Editor End Of

As of Saturday I’m moving on from using Dave Winer’s OPMLeditor as my combined blog editor and subscription reader/manager. I’ll stay informed through scriptingnews.com but for now I have upgraded with two exceptional products that I’m confident will make my blogging time much more efficient.

For subscription reading and management NetNewsWire is my choice and for writing blog posts I’ll use MarsEdit2. Interesting point, although each product is from a different company both are created by Brent Simmons. Even more interesting is that Brent is a former employee of Dave Winer’s during the development of OPMLeditor. So there is some lineage back to the Userland Software products that I’ve enjoyed using for the past 12 years.

I am unable to locate any docs on the web, at WordPress, or at Userland to move the posts I have in OPMLEditor and Radio Userland to this WordPress blog. What happened to “Data Portability”? Big talk years ago from Userland and Dave Winer.

I’ve found plenty of other blogging systems with directions for content exchange. Does anyone have knowledge to share on how I can move my content into WordPress?

My First OPML Editor post (in this blog)

I had to reinstall the wordpress.root tool to gain access to the prefs set up page. After I did that everything proceeded as expected.

The reason I’m doing this is twofold; one is that it appears that blogs.opml.org is experiencing server problems and two is that I’ve been using Radio 8 to publish Gary Secondino’s weblog for years and although it still works fine for me I feel the need for change to something new.
